Whitby, Ontario – The Region of Durham and Durham Regional Police Service recently partnered with York Region, Halton Region, Peel Region, the City of Hamilton and the City of Toronto to host a Community Safety and Well-Being (CSWB) Symposium. The virtual event took place on June 10 and was attended by more than 250 representatives from across the Greater Toronto and Hamilton Area (GTHA).

Whitby, Ontario – Durham Regional Council has made the decision to cancel the Mixed Waste Pre-sort and Anaerobic Digestion (AD) Facility procurement process. The project was approved and is a key component of the Region’s long-term waste management plan. This week’s beach postings also include the first week for testing at Durham Region’s newest beach, Iroquois Beach, Whitby. Expanded eligibility for COVID-19 second booster doses available for individuals 18-plus

Whitby, Ontario, In line with the recent provincial announcement, Durham Region Health Department is now expanding availability for fourth dose (second booster dose) of COVID-19 vaccine to eligible residents 18 and older. Eligible residents can now book appointments at community immunization clinics for their second booster dose by visiting durham.ca/vaccineappointment. No walk-ins will be available for second booster doses. Vaccines provided will be Pfizer Comirnaty BioNTech and Moderna Spikevax.
Road closure on Alexander Knox Road in the City of Pickering

Whitby, Ontario – The Regional Municipality of Durham is advising residents of a road closure on Alexander Knox Road, in the City of Pickering.
When: The closure will start July 12 and extend to November 30. Unfavourable weather conditions may influence the work schedule.
Where: Alexander Knox Road (Whitevale Road) from Peter Matthews Drive to Brock Road, in the City of Pickering.
Why: To install multiple large culverts across the roadway.
