Whitby, Ontario – Durham Region has been named one of the top seven global Intelligent Communities of 2022 by the Intelligent Community Forum (ICF).
In the 20th annual top seven list, Durham Region is named alongside cities from Australia, Brazil, Canada, Taiwan and Vietnam. This fall, one of the seven finalists will be named the Intelligent Community of the Year at the ICF Summit.

Whitby, Ontario - The following represents beach-posting information for Durham Region beaches. Test results for the week of June 20 indicate that one beach has been posted as unsafe for swimming due to elevated bacteria levels. Beaches are posted as unsafe for swimming when elevated levels of E. coli exceed the provincial standard of 200 E. coli per 100 ml of water.

Whitby, Ontario – The Regional Municipality of Durham advises residents of changes to scheduled curbside waste collection, as well as Regional Waste Management Facilities hours, in observance of the statutory holiday.
When: Friday, July 1.
Where: Durham Region (across all eight local area municipalities).
All residents with curbside collection scheduled for Friday, July 1, will temporarily have their collection moved to Saturday, July 2.
