Whitby, Ontario – The following represents beach-posting information for Durham Region beaches. Test results for the week of Aug. 24 indicate that two beaches have been posted as unsafe for swimming due to elevated bacteria levels. Beaches are posted as unsafe for swimming when elevated levels of E. coli exceed the provincial standard of 200 E. coli per 100 ml of water.

Whitby, Ontario - Durham Region Health Department has received notification of adult mosquitoes that have tested positive for West Nile virus (WNV) from a mosquito trap site in Ajax. Confirmation was received on Aug. 27. Positive mosquitoes have now been confirmed from traps located in Ajax, Pickering and Oshawa.

Lane restrictions on Simcoe Street North near Selleck Lane in Oshawa

Whitby, Ontario – The Regional Municipality of Durham is advising residents of lane restrictions in the north and southbound lanes of Simcoe Street North (Regional Road 2) in the City of Oshawa.
When: September 21 to October 30. Unfavourable weather conditions may influence the work schedule.
Where: Simcoe Street North, from 250 metres south of Selleck Lane to 350 metres south of Selleck Lane, in the City of Oshawa.

Whitby, Ontario – The Regional Municipality of Durham, Works Department would like to remind residents of changes to the scheduled curbside blue box collection in the City of Oshawa and Town of Whitby due to the upcoming Labour Day Holiday.
When: September 7 to 12.
