Whitby, Ontario - The following represents beach-posting information for Durham Region beaches. Test results for the week of July 13 indicates that two beaches have been posted as unsafe for swimming due to elevated bacteria levels. Beaches are posted as unsafe for swimming when elevated levels of E. coli exceed the provincial standard of 200 E. coli per 100 ml of water.

Whitby, Ontario – The Regional Municipality of Durham is advising residents of ongoing lane restrictions on Nonquon River Bridge, which connects Reach Street (Regional Road 8) over the Nonquon River, in the Township of Scugog.
When: Ongoing until further notice.
Where: Nonquon River Bridge, which connects Reach Street (Regional Road 8) over the Nonquon River, 0.45 km west of Highway 12 in the Township of Scugog.

Whitby, Ontario – From June 8 to 28, more than 7,000 residents entered the special Durham Region Waste App Contest for a chance to win a $100 grocery store gift card of their choosing. The contest encouraged residents to enter by downloading either the Durham Region Waste app or the Whitby Waste Buddy app, which resulted in more than 1,500 new downloads for each app.

Mandatory water restrictions for Greenbank and Uxbridge residents and businesses lifted

Whitby, Ontario – The Regional Municipality of Durham is advising residents and businesses on the municipal water system in Uxbridge and the Hamlet of Greenbank that the mandatory water restrictions have now been lifted.
All Durham residents and businesses are reminded to continue practising water conservation methods by limiting all non-essential indoor and outdoor water use.
Examples of non-essential water use includes cleaning driveways or decks, washing cars and lawn watering.
