Region of Durham testing Public Alerting System

Whitby, Ontario – Residents and businesses are advised that the Region of Durham will be conducting its annual spring testing of the Public Alerting System within the 10-kilometre area around the Darlington and Pickering Nuclear Generating stations.
When:Testing is scheduled to take place during regular daytime business hours on May 9 for indoor notification (automated emergency telephone dialing system), and on May 10 for outdoor siren activation. The outdoor sirens will sound for up to one minute.

Update: The Region of Durham’s Traffic Operations Centre at 101 Consumers Drive will re-open at 8 a.m. on Tuesday, April 17.
Original notice posted at 9:57 a.m. on Monday, April 16: The Region of Durham’s Traffic Operations Centre at 101 Consumers Drive in Whitby is closed until further notice due to flooding. For any questions, please contact the Works Department at 905-668-7711. Please note, the Health Department’s offices on the second floor at 101 Consumers Drive in Whitby, remain open.

Maintenance work will affect entrances to Durham Regional Headquarters

Whitby, Ontario – The Regional Municipality of Durham, Works Department would like to advise visitors to the Regional Headquarters building at 605 Rossland Road East in Whitby that the entrances to the building will be impacted on a rotating basis while landscaping work is completed. Alternate entrances and exits to the building should be used during this time.

Sanitary sewer 'smoke testing' in Cannington

Whitby, Ontario – The Regional Municipality of Durham, Works Department would like to advise Cannington residents that it will be conducting smoke testing on the sanitary sewer system.
When: October 23 through November 3, between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m.
Where: The community of Cannington, within the Township of Brock.
