Riverine Flooding occurs when heavy rainfall or spring snow melt causes rivers or creeks to overflow. Flood plain management, including the mapping of the flood plain, is the responsibility of conservation authorities. Conservation Authorities within Durham Region have collaborated to provide an online mapping tool to better understand flood risk.
