Whitby, Ontario – The Regional Municipality of Durham has been experiencing excessive foaming in the wastewater collection system in Port Perry due to the increased use of cleaning products containing high levels of phosphorus and/or nitrogen. Residents and businesses in Port Perry are asked to reduce the usage of excess cleaning products.
When: Effective immediately.

New traffic signal timing at Park Road intersections in Oshawa

Whitby, Ontario – The Regional Municipality of Durham is advising residents of updated traffic signal timing at two intersections on Park Road in the City of Oshawa.
When: As of January 6, the new signal timing will be implemented. Unfavourable weather conditions may influence the work schedule.
Where: At the intersections of Park Road and King Street, and Park Road and Bond Street.
Why: The traffic signals on Park Road are changing from having the left-turn green arrow at the end of the traffic...

Emergency child care coming soon for school-age children of eligible workers

Whitby, Ontario – Licensed child care programs for infants, toddlers, preschool and centre-based kindergarten programs will remain open during the province-wide shutdown. However, care of school-age children whose parents are not eligible workers is prohibited from January 4 to 8, 2021, as per the Ontario government’s Safer at Home Restrictions. Full-day care programs for school-age children will only be available for eligible workers, at no cost to families.
