Final call – what’s your level of nuclear emergency preparedness?
Whitby, Ontario – Over the past four years, The Region of Durham, in collaboration with the Social Research Centre at Ontario Tech University, has been conducting surveys to learn more about residents’ understanding of nuclear emergency preparedness. Now in its final year, first time and returning participants are once again encouraged to take part in the survey.
Where: Complete the Nuclear Emergency Preparedness Resident Survey online until July 2024.
Why: The Region of Durham co-ordinates regional emergency responses, maintains the nuclear public alerting system, leads various emergency preparedness drills and exercises, and builds awareness in the community. The information gathered from this final year’s survey directly assists and influences planning and public education initiatives. Durham is committed to making sure residents are informed and ready in the event of an emergency.
Note: The survey is open to all Durham residents 18-years and older. To help ensure quality data, the Region’s Durham Emergency Management team is seeking a diverse range and large number of participants from all Durham Region municipalities. Participants who complete the survey can enter to win an emergency preparedness kit. For more information and to complete the survey please visit bit.ly/nuclearpreparedness2024.
