The first step was to form a Strategic Plan Development Task Force. In March 2019, four Regional Councillors were appointed to join the Chief Administrative Officer and one Department Head on this team. Strategic Plan Development Task Force members:

| Public Consultation |
| Residents and stakeholders were encouraged to weigh in on the new goals and priorities during an extensive public consultation process from May to September 2019. Durham Region's 2025 Strategic Plan
Work is underway to develop Durham Region’s 2025 Durham Region Strategic Plan, which will guide the direction of our work over the next few years. It will outline how we will continue to deliver award-winning programs and services and act as a compass to advance our work to achieve the futures we want to create.
We have completed the engagement phase for developing Durham Region's 2025 Strategic Plan and thank the community for sharing your thoughts, aspirations and vision for the future of Durham Region.
