2023 Transportation Tomorrow Survey underway in Durham Region
Whitby, Ontario – The Regional Municipality of Durham, in partnership with the Ontario Ministry of Transportation (MTO), Metrolinx, Toronto Transit Commission (TTC), and other participating municipalities across the Greater Golden Horseshoe (GGH), have launched the 2023 Transportation Tomorrow Survey (TTS).
The TTS is a voluntary survey that captures information about trips made by residents during a typical weekday. The Region thanks residents who completed the survey in the fall. Those who have not completed the survey can watch their mailboxes for an invitation to complete the survey online (TTS2023.ca) or by phone (1-877-216-7786).
There are numerous benefits associated with the TTS, including assisting the Region with long-range transportation planning and improvements to its extensive transportation network. Along with planning for road improvements, TTS data also helps pinpoint where to invest and build infrastructure for public transit, cyclists and pedestrians.
The type of data collected, as part of the TTS, keeps pace with demographic and geographic changes in the Region of Durham as the population grows. Households that complete the survey directly contribute to the effectiveness of the Region’s strategic plans, including the Region’s Official Plan, Transportation Master Plan, and the Regional Cycling Plan, to name a few.
The TTS is used to support investments in the Region’s transportation network and Durham residents can be assured that tax dollars invested are directed to neighborhoods where frequent public transit service and/or road infrastructure are needed most.
Through its participation in the TTS, the Region is an active planning partner with the MTO and other participating municipalities to help ensure that Durham’s residents are helping shape their community’s transportation future.
