All meter readings by Meter Readers improves customer service
Whitby, Ontario – As of March 1, Durham Region has moved from the customer self-assessment (TeleRead) water meter card program to all water meter readings by Meter Readers.
The Region is using radio frequency (RF) or touchpad enabled water meters to collect water usage data without entering homes. This change eliminates the need for customers to provide readings and reduces the number of estimated water bills. More than 181,000 residential municipal water supply customers will benefit from all meter readings by Meter Readers.
The reduction of estimated water bills will help identify plumbing issues sooner, reducing high bills—ultimately saving customers money, improving customer service, and preventing water loss.
Since 1976, the Region has asked customers to supply readings through a self-assessment TeleRead meter card program and thanks customers for their participation.
