Blue box collection schedule changes in Oshawa and Whitby due to the holiday season

Whitby, Ontario – The Regional Municipality of Durham would like to remind Oshawa and Whitby residents of changes to the scheduled blue box collection due to the holiday season.

When: Monday, December 25 to Saturday, December 30 and Monday, January 1 to Saturday, January 6.

Where: Residents of the City of Oshawa and the Town of Whitby only will temporarily have their blue box collection moved to the next day.

This means that blue box collection scheduled for Monday, December 25 (Christmas Day) will be moved to Tuesday, December 26. This shift will continue throughout the week, ending with Friday, December 29 collection being moved to Saturday, December 30. The day shift will also occur  the following week with Monday, January 1 (New Year’s Day) collections being moved to Tuesday, January 2. The shift will continue throughout the week, ending with Friday, January 5 collection being moved to Saturday, January 6.

Note: Residents are reminded to have blue box materials at the curb by 7 a.m. on the day of collection. Garbage and green bin collection for Oshawa and Whitby residents is the responsibility of the individual municipalities, not the Region of Durham. Residents are asked to check their waste calendars or contact their local municipality regarding the collection of these items.
