Cannington residents asked to practise additional water conservation during water tower maintenance
Whitby, Ontario – The Regional Municipality of Durham is asking residents using the Cannington municipal water supply to practise additional water conservation efforts as the Works Department conducts maintenance on the Cannington water tower. Residents should limit non-essential water use during this time.
When: September 7 until November 26. Once the work is completed, residents may return to normal water conservation efforts. Unfavourable weather conditions may influence the work schedule.
Where: Cannington in the Township of Brock.
Why: To conduct maintenance on the Cannington water tower.
Note: Examples of non-essential water use include cleaning driveways or decks, washing cars and lawn watering.
Water conservation is necessary to maintain adequate water levels to deal with emergencies, including fire protection. Fire services will be notified to ensure alternate supplies are in place to maintain emergency coverage. Special efforts are being made to maintain normal water service during this program, however, some customers may experience pressure fluctuations. While work is underway, select hydrants may discharge or spout water. This is to help control water pressure within the distribution system.
