Celebrate the essential services of public works during National Public Works Week (May 17 to 23)
From May 17 to 23, Durham Region will be celebrating National Public Works Week by recognizing the essential services of public works and to acknowledge the essential services our Works Department staff provide each and every day.
Thank you to all Works Department staff for their commitment to providing excellent service. This year more than ever, we’ve seen just how important public works is to ensure our communities operate smoothly and safely, even during a pandemic. It is thanks to our dedicated staff that our residents are able to stay home, work-from-home and operate business during COVID-19. From providing clean drinking water, to collecting waste at the curbside, to maintaining our Regional Roads, to keeping Regional facilities safe and operational for those that must come to work, public works is there. We appreciate the continued commitment to excellence despite these unprecedented times.
Residents are encouraged to learn more about the role that public works plays in their day-to-day lives by watching virtual tours of Regional facilities and videos of public works staff in action by visiting durham.ca/NPWW.
