Changes to Blue Box collection schedule for Whitby residents weeks of Dec. 26 and Jan. 2
Whitby, Ontario –
The Regional Municipality of Durham, Works Department would like to remind Whitby residents of changes to scheduled curbside Blue Box collection due to the holidays.
WHEN:
Whitby residents will have their Blue Box collection moved to the following day during the weeks of Dec. 26 and Jan. 2.
Blue Box collection scheduled for Monday, Dec. 26 (Boxing Day) will be moved to Tuesday, Dec. 27. This shift will continue throughout the week, ending with the Friday, Dec. 30 collection being moved to Saturday, Dec. 31. This change will also be in effect the week of Jan. 2, with the shift continuing throughout the week until Saturday, Jan. 7.
WHERE:
Blue Box collection changes only affect residents of the Town of Whitby. Please note that this change does not affect residents in the City of Oshawa. All residents are reminded to double-check their waste calendars to confirm their waste collection days over the holidays.
WHY:
Changes to Blue Box collection dates are taking place in observance of Boxing Day and New Year’s Day.
NOTE:
Garbage and Green Bin collection for Whitby residents is the responsibility of the Town, not the Region of Durham. Residents are asked to check their waste calendars, or contact their local municipality, regarding collection of these items.
