Changes to Regional services in observance of the National Day of Mourning
Whitby, Ontario – The Regional Municipality of Durham is advising residents that Regional Headquarters, the Waste Management Centre, Ontario Works offices and Adult Day Programs at Hillsdale Estates and in Port Perry will be closed in observance of the federal National Day of Mourning.
When: Monday, September 19
Where: There will be no impacts to the following services: curbside waste collection; Durham Region Transit; Regional Early Learning and Child Care programs; and courts located at Regional Headquarters.
The following facilities will be closed:
- Durham Regional Headquarters, 605 Rossland Road East, Whitby
- Waste Management Centre, 4600 Garrard Road North, Whitby
- Waste Management Call Centre
- Ontario Works offices, 605 Rossland Road East, Whitby; 200 John Street West, Oshawa; and 140 Commercial Avenue, Ajax
- The Adult Day Programs at Hillsdale Estates, 590 Oshawa Boulevard North, Oshawa
- Port Perry Adult Day Program, 451 Paxton Street, Port Perry
- Durham Region Health Department locations:
- 101 Consumers Road, Whitby
- 181 Perry Street, Port Perry
- Oral Health Clinic, 200 John Street, Oshawa
- Sexual Health Clinics:
- Oshawa Centre, 419 King Street West, Suite 180
- Pickering Town Centre, 1355 Kingston Road, Unit 14A, Lower level
- Breastfeeding Clinic, Whitby Mall, 1615 Dundas Street East, Whitby
- Community Immunization Clinics:
- Oshawa: 419 King Street West, Oshawa
- Clarington: 2440 Durham Regional Highway 2, Bowmanville
- Pickering: 1899 Brock Road, Unit C3, Pickering
Facilities will reopen on September 20 and resume regular hours of operation.
Why: These changes are taking place in observance of the federal holiday to recognize the funeral of Her Majesty, Queen Elizabeth II.
Note: The Region is observing this date, as language in the Region’s Collective Agreements recognizes all federally or provincially declared holidays.
