Changes to the waste collection schedule for Easter holidays
Whitby, Ontario – The Regional Municipality of Durham, Works Department would like to remind residents of changes to scheduled curbside waste collection due to the upcoming Easter holidays.
When and where: Residents of Ajax, Brock, Clarington, Pickering, Scugog and Uxbridge who have curbside collection scheduled for Friday, April 19 (Good Friday) will have their waste collected on Saturday, April 20.
Oshawa and Whitby residents with blue box collection scheduled for Friday, April 19 (Good Friday) will have their recyclables collected on Saturday, April 20. In addition, blue box collection scheduled for Monday, April 22 (Easter Monday) will be moved to Tuesday, April 23. This shift will continue throughout the week, ending with Friday, April 26 collections being moved to Saturday, April 27 in the City of Oshawa and the Town of Whitby only. Garbage and Green Bin collection for Oshawa and Whitby residents is the responsibility of the individual municipalities, not the Region of Durham. These residents are asked to check their waste calendars, or contact their local municipality, regarding collection of these items during the Easter weekend.
Why: These changes are taking place in observance of Good Friday and Easter Monday.
Note: Also in observance of the Easter weekend, the Region’s waste management facilities and call centre will be closed Friday, April 19 through Monday, April 22. Regular hours of operation will resume on Tuesday, April 23.
