Changes to the waste collection schedule for statutory holidays
Whitby, Ontario – The Regional Municipality of Durham is advising residents of changes to the scheduled curbside waste collection due to the upcoming statutory holidays.
When and where: Residents of Ajax, Brock, Clarington, Pickering, Scugog and Uxbridge who have curbside collection scheduled for Friday, April 2, will have their waste collected the following day on Saturday, April 3.
Oshawa and Whitby residents with blue box collection scheduled for Friday, April 2, will have their recyclables collected on Saturday, April 3. Blue box collection scheduled for Monday, April 5, will be moved to Tuesday, April 6. This shift will continue throughout the week, ending with Friday, April 9, collections being moved to Saturday, April 10, in the City of Oshawa and the Town of Whitby only.
Garbage and green bin collection for Oshawa and Whitby residents is the responsibility of the individual municipalities, not the Region of Durham. These residents are asked to check their waste calendars or contact their local municipality regarding the collection of these items during the holiday weekend.
Why: These changes are taking place in observance of statutory holidays.
Note: In observance of the statutory holiday weekend, the Regional waste management facilities in Brock, Scugog and Oshawa and the Household Special Waste Depot in Clarington will be closed, Friday April 2, and Saturday, April 3. Regular operating hours will resume Tuesday, April 6.
