Check out the trucks at Durham Region’s annual National Public Works Week open house
Whitby, Ontario – Durham Region residents are invited to celebrate National Public Works Week, May 19 to 25, by attending a free open house on Saturday, May 25 at the Ajax/Pickering Depot.
When: Saturday, May 25, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. (rain or shine).
Where: Durham Region’s Ajax/Pickering Depot, 2020 Salem Road, Ajax.
Why: Each year during the third week of May, municipalities across North America celebrate National Public Works Week to help raise awareness about the infrastructure and services provided by public works and how they improve the quality of life for present and future generations.
Join staff of The Regional Municipality of Durham, Works Department at the Ajax/Pickering Depot to get a behind-the-scenes look at how the Works Department operates. Learn about the many services provided by the Works Department through interactive displays, a virtual simulator, children’s activities and a truck and equipment display.
Note: Residents are encouraged to bring a non-perishable food item, to be donated to a local food bank (please check for damaged packaging and expiration dates).
