Compost Giveaway events are back from April 30 to May 28

Whitby, Ontario – The Regional Municipality of Durham has teamed up with the area municipalities to offer free compost to residents at special events taking place across the region. The compost giveaway event scheduled for May 28 in the Township of Uxbridge has been canceled due to the recent storm.
Why: In appreciation of a continued community-wide commitment to the Regional organics collection programs, residents are provided with free compost made using organics collected through curbside Green Bin and Yard Waste programs.

Saturday, April 30 from 8 a.m. to noon

Saturday, May 7 from 8 a.m. to noon
- Lakeview Park (parking lot)
Kluane Avenue, Oshawa - Foster Hewitt Memorial Community Centre (parking lot)
176 Main Street, Beaverton
Saturday, May 14 from 8 a.m. to noon
- Whitby Operations Centre
333 McKinney Drive, Whitby - Clarington Operations Depot 42
178 Darlington-Clarke Townline Road, Bowmanville

940 Dillingham Road, Pickering - The event scheduled for Uxbridge has been canceled due to the recent storm.
Note: These are self-serve events. Residents must bring a shovel and containers to carry their compost. Quantities are first-come, first-served and limited to four blue boxes of compost per vehicle.
Green bins, blue boxes, blue box lids and backyard composters will also be available for purchase (VISA, Mastercard, debit or e-transfer only), and broken bins can be exchanged for free.
No Cash. Only VISA, Mastercard, debit and e-transfer will be accepted for purchases.
Residents are encouraged to bring a non-perishable food item, to be donated to a local food bank (please check that boxes and cans are not damaged, opened or expired).
