Conlin Road project update and upcoming closure in Whitby
Whitby, Ontario – The Regional Municipality of Durham, in partnership with the City of Oshawa, is updating residents on the ongoing Conlin Road project and an upcoming road closure in the Town of Whitby.
When and where: Conlin Road, from Thickson Road (Regional Road 26) to 200 metres west of Garrard Road, in Whitby will be closed from October 23 to December 31. Unfavourable weather conditions and work progress may influence the closure schedule.
Why: To safely install a new feedermain, watermain, sanitary and storm sewer, and to facilitate road reconstruction.
Note: Conlin Road from Garrard Road to Stevenson Road and the intersection of Conlin Road and Thornton Road in Oshawa are now opened to traffic.
Access to Durham Region’s Oshawa/Whitby Depot at 825 Conlin Road and the public water filling station will be maintained at all times. The east driveway will remain open during the work, however the west driveway will be restricted from October 23 until early November.
Additional details, including timing about future closures and lane restrictions, will be provided in advance. For more details, visit durham.ca/ConlinRoad.
Businesses in the area will remain open throughout the construction. Durham Region offers a helpful overview of what businesses can expect during construction, including tips on how to minimize the inconvenience on their business, at durham.ca/OpenForBusiness.
The Region realizes that the work may be disruptive and will make every effort to complete the work as quickly and efficiently as possible. Drivers are asked to exercise caution for the safety of pedestrians, cyclists and work crews.
