Construction to close Main Street in Orono

Whitby, Ontario – The Regional Municipality of Durham, Works Department would like to advise residents that construction will close Main Street (Regional Road 17) in the Municipality of Clarington (Village of Orono) in stages until November.

When:

Stage one: Work begins the week of June 12. Main Street will be closed from Mill Street to Millson Hill Drive, for approximately 11 weeks, starting June 19.
Stage two: Following stage one, Main Street will be closed from Millson Hill Drive to Taunton Road for approximately 11 weeks.

Work is estimated to be complete by the end of November. Unfavourable weather conditions may influence the work schedule.

Why: Work includes road reconstruction; the installation of new watermains and storm sewers; ditch removal; and lighting improvements.

Note: The Region realizes that the work may be disruptive, and will make every effort to complete the work as quickly and efficiently as possible. Drivers are asked to exercise caution for the safety of pedestrians, cyclists and construction workers.
