Diabetes education workshop for seniors
Whitby, Ontario – Did you know that one in three Canadians have diabetes or pre-diabetes? As part of the Seniors’ Virtual Learning Series, Durham Region is hosting a free virtual workshop about diabetes, where older adults can learn about what diabetes is; signs and symptoms; and possible treatments for the disease.
When: Monday, November 15 from 2 to 3 p.m.
Where: This is a virtual event. Register online at durham.ca/LearningSeries.
Who: Alisia and Megan, representatives from the Diabetes Education Program Team at Brock Community Health Centre, will present an overview of diabetes and lead an interactive discussion. Alisia has a background as a registered dietitian and Megan is a registered nurse. This will be a general overview; specific medical cases will not be discussed.
Note: This event is part of the Seniors’ Virtual Learning Series, presented by Durham Region in partnership with various community partners. Stay active, socially engaged and connected through educational workshops, recreational classes and community challenges for older adults. Watch for more events in the coming months.
