Durham Agricultural Advisory Committee seeks new representative from the Township of Uxbridge
Whitby, Ontario –
The Regional Municipality of Durham is seeking a new member from the Township of Uxbridge to serve on the Durham Agricultural Advisory Committee (DAAC). Letters of interest are now being accepted from bona fide farmers living or owning farmland in Uxbridge. Farmers with an interest in enhancing the region’s agricultural and rural areas are encouraged to apply for volunteer membership on DAAC.
WHEN:
Interested individuals are asked to submit a letter of interest, along with their resume (e.g. farming experience), to The Regional Municipality of Durham, Planning Division by Jan. 13, 2017.
WHERE:
Appointed members will be expected to attend a monthly evening meeting on the first Tuesday of each month, at The Regional Municipality of Durham Headquarters, located at 605 Rossland Rd. E. in Whitby.
WHY:
DAAC is a volunteer advisory committee that provides advice to The Regional Municipality of Durham on agricultural and rural related matters, and is involved in education and outreach activities. DAAC is composed of 16 members, including: bona fide farmers; rural non-farm residents; a representative of the Durham Region Federation of Agriculture; and a representative of the Committee of the Whole.
NOTE:
Individuals who are interested in this position will first be considered by Uxbridge Council before a decision on the appointment is made by Regional Council. Individual submissions should be sent by email to daac@durham.ca or mailed to:
