Durham Behaviour Management Services renames to Children’s Developmental and Behavioural Supports
Whitby, Ontario – After 40 years of excellent service to families, Durham Behaviour Management Services (DBMS) is renaming to “Children’s Developmental and Behavioural Supports.”
DBMS began 40 years ago as a home and community-based consultation service that included licensed child care and recreation programs. Since then, it has expanded to include programming; collaborations with Durham Children’s Aid Society and Dnaagdawenmag Binnoojiiyag Child & Family Services; early years caregiver-mediated intervention through the Ontario Autism Program – Durham partnership; and community outreach at EarlyON centres.
The new name, Children’s Developmental and Behavioural Supports, better reflects the full range of services available to help reduce challenging or interfering behaviours, and support with developing key life skills. This includes activities to help with toilet training, sleep, feeding, functional communication, play and social emotional skills.
Children’s Developmental and Behavioural Supports is more inclusive and engaging to caregivers and will accommodate the growth needed to meet the evolving needs of the community.
