Durham Greener Homes Program receives national recognition
Whitby, Ontario – The Durham Greener Homes Program has received national recognition through a recent video released by the Federation of Canadian Municipalities (FCM).The video highlights the program and its innovative, third-party financing model that makes energy efficient home upgrades more accessible and affordable for homeowners. The Durham Greener Homes Program is a first-of-its-kind home energy upgrade program in Canada and supports Durham homeowners through their home retrofit journey. It provides access to free expert home energy coaching, financing options, incentives and cashback rebates.
The program is delivered in partnership with the Windfall Ecology Centre and is a key part of the Region’s implementation of climate action initiatives in response to Durham Regional Council’s climate emergency declaration. Funding is provided through a $3.4 million investment from the Community Efficiency Financing, an initiative delivered by the Federation of Canadian Municipalities’ Green Municipal Fund, supported by the Government of Canada.
