Durham Region Accessibility Advisory Committee is seeking expressions of interest for citizen members
Whitby, Ontario – The Regional Municipality of Durham is now accepting expressions of interest from individuals who wish to be considered for volunteer membership on the Durham Region Accessibility Advisory Committee (AAC).
When: Expressions of interest must be submitted by March 29, 2019. A decision on the appointments will be made by Durham Regional Council in May 2019.
How: Membership is open to Durham residents with an interest in the Region’s accessibility initiatives. Those interested should have an awareness and knowledge of the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act (AODA) and its standards. Interested individuals are asked to submit a brief biography and statement of interest by email to accessibility@durham.ca or by mail to:

Where: Appointed members will be expected to attend Tuesday afternoon meetings, six times per year, along with occasional sub-committee meetings at The Regional Municipality of Durham Headquarters, 605 Rossland Road East in Whitby.
Why: The Durham Region AAC is a volunteer advisory committee that provides advice to Regional Council on accessibility matters and is involved in awareness and outreach activities. Durham Region AAC is composed of 11 members, including: one Regional Councillor, at least six citizen members who identify as a person with a disability defined within the AODA, and the remainder of individuals representing organizations providing services in Durham Region to persons with disabilities.
