Durham Region and Town of Whitby complete study for Brock Street North in Whitby
Whitby, Ontario – The Regional Municipality of Durham and the Town of Whitby have completed a Class Environmental Assessment (EA) study for Brock Street North, from south of Manning Road to south of Rossland Road, in the Town of Whitby.
The completed report related to this study is being placed on public record for a 45-day review period as of May 14 at durham.ca/BrockStreetProject. Based on the evaluation of the planning and design alternatives, and considering stakeholder input, the EA study recommends a continuous centre left turn lane along Brock Street North, intersection modifications at Wallace Drive/Palmerston Avenue and Manning Road/Starr Avenue as well as a multi-use path along the east side of Brock Street North. The majority of Brock Street North within the study area is under the jurisdiction of the Town of Whitby, with the exception of the intersection of Brock Street North and Manning Road/Starr Avenue, which is under the jurisdiction of the Region of Durham.
The 45-day review period will begin on May 14 and conclude on June 28, 2020. Construction is scheduled to start in 2021, subject to the completion of design, utility relocations and permitting.
