Durham Region announces the winners of the Waste App Contest
Whitby, Ontario – From May 1 to 31, more than 9,500 residents entered the Durham Region Waste App Contest for a chance to win a $100 grocery store gift card of their choosing. The contest encouraged residents to enter by downloading either the Durham Region Waste app or the Whitby Waste Buddy app, which resulted in more than 3,000 new app downloads.
Thank you to all Durham residents who participated in the contest. A special congratulations to the winners who were randomly selected from each area municipality in Durham Region:

- Oshawa – Megan Bird

- Pickering – Michelle Lalonde
- Uxbridge – Arthur Beatty

Residents are encouraged to continue using the convenient and helpful apps. Both the Durham Region Waste app and the Whitby Waste Buddy app are free to download from Google Play or the App Store. The apps allow residents to view schedules, receive reminders and book special waste pick-ups. You can also get sorting tips for blue box, green bin and garbage.
Printed and mailed waste collection calendars are being phased out for all residents in Durham Region. Residents are encouraged to download the Durham Region Waste and Whitby Waste Buddy apps to access waste management information. Residents can also access the online collection calendar at durham.ca/waste.
