Durham Region celebrates National Public Service Week
Whitby, Ontario – The following statement is being issued on behalf of John Henry, Regional Chair and Chief Executive Officer, and Elaine Baxter-Trahair, Chief Administrative Officer, for The Regional Municipality of Durham:
“In Durham Region, we strive to deliver strong, responsive and sustainable services that help to shape this region’s great quality of life.
We are proud to recognize National Public Service Week (June 11 to 17); to collectively acknowledge staff across all Regional sites for their hard work and commitment as Regional employees.
Every single day, highly skilled Regional employees deliver a wide range of programs and services that support more than 700,000 residents and businesses across our region; vital services that directly impact the daily lives of those within Durham Region.
Services that sometimes happen behind the scenes; sometimes in broad daylight. Heroes who save lives; support those who are vulnerable; and help to put a roof over people’s heads. Workers who ensure our drinking water is clean; offer transportation options for residents; focus on inclusivity; prepare us for emergencies; help create jobs; and much, much more.
Public service employees are your family, friends and neighbours; proud community members committed to building safe, inclusive and healthy neighbourhoods.
It is their efforts that help ensure Durham is a great place to call home.
Please join us in extending our sincere appreciation to all public servants for their important contributions to Durham Region, Ontario and Canada.
Thank you for making us Durham proud.”
