Durham Region: engaging in local climate action
Whitby, Ontario – On October 19, the Durham Climate Roundtable Fall Forum will bring together leaders, innovators, community members and their families, to discuss and take action around climate challenges. Hosted by the Region of Durham and the Brilliant Energy Institute at Ontario Tech University, this year’s event will explore pathways to a more sustainable future.
This family-friendly day is packed with activities that highlight climate challenges and initiatives specific to Durham. Take part in engaging workshops, listen to insights from local leaders, sit in on panel discussions, or join the movement to reduce waste and overconsumption at the Repair Café. Bring along your bikes, small appliances, and more for a chance to breathe new life into them with the help of our skilled volunteers.
The Durham Environment and Climate Advisory Committee is also hosting an Art from Garbage contest for students! Get creative with your use of upcycled materials to make your masterpiece. But hurry, the contest closes on October 11. Additional information can be found on Durham.ca along with the official entry form.
