Durham Region installs equipment on roads for Annual Count Program
Whitby, Ontario – As part of the Region of Durham’s Annual Count Program, contractors will be installing hoses on Regional roads and multi-use paths to count vehicular and cyclist volumes and speeds. The data collected from the hoses will inform the Region’s long-term planning initiatives.
When: Hoses and traffic recording equipment will be installed throughout the Region from April to October.
Where: Hoses will be installed on roads and multi-use paths across Regional roads.
Why: The data is necessary to inform the Region’s long-term planning initiatives and short-term countermeasures related to the Durham Vision Zero program.
Durham Vision Zero is a long-term plan to ensure the safest possible transportation system that sees no lives lost or serious injuries on Durham’s roadways. Learn more about the program at durham.ca/VisionZero.
