Durham Region to launch new eProcurement Tool

Whitby, Ontario – The Finance Department, Purchasing Section is pleased to announce the upcoming launch of an integrated, online eProcurement Tool—a product that will allow vendors to view, register and submit bids quickly and easily online in one convenient location.

Beginning in early 2017, this fully electronic method of issuing and accepting bids will be phased in and will result in a more efficient bidding process for both vendors and the Region of Durham. Upon submission of electronic bids, automated checks will help to ensure that all required documents have been included with each bid received; thereby reducing the possibility of bid disqualification. Plus, with the introduction of electronic bidding, vendors will no longer be required to submit bids in person at Regional Headquarters, send them via courier, or attend public bid openings.

In advance of this new service, vendors are invited to purchase either an unlimited annual subscription at www.bidsandtenders.ca or durhambidsandtenders.ca or utilize the pay-per-use option, if not already a subscriber to bidsandtenders.ca. Please note that bidding documents can be previewed entirely online, before any payment is required.

The unlimited subscription will provide the ability to access bidding opportunities from numerous government agencies across the Greater Toronto Area (including several within Durham Region) and the Province of Ontario. Plus, as part of the registration process, vendors have the option to select category code(s) for goods, services and construction, which are specific to their core business. Bidding opportunities, which match these category codes, will be automatically emailed to the appropriate vendors.

This eProcurement Tool will replace the current Bidding Opportunities section of the Region’s website (durham.ca/biddingopportunities). To introduce vendors to the new eProcurement Tool, they are invited to join one of the following information sessions:
