Durham residents invited to give feedback on the Simcoe Street Rapid Transit Visioning Study
Whitby, Ontario – The Region of Durham and the City of Oshawa are working together on the Simcoe Street Rapid Transit Visioning Study; seeking feedback from residents to help assess the demand for rapid transit along Simcoe Street in Oshawa.
The Region will host the first virtual open house, with an opportunity for residents to ask questions and provide study-related comments at the end of the session.
When: September 28, 2022, from 6 to 8 p.m.
Where: Residents of Durham are encouraged to join virtually through Microsoft Teams. The link to join virtually will be posted on SimcoeStreetRapidTransit.ca on the day of the event.
Why: The Simcoe Street Rapid Transit Visioning Study is an opportunity to learn how to improve mobility and quality of life for existing residents, while preparing the corridor to attract and support future growth. In addition, it will examine ways to assess rapid transit investments, based on evolving best practices in the areas of diversity, equity and inclusion, including concepts centered around the economic benefit of rapid transit and transit-oriented communities.
Note: The Region of Durham and City of Oshawa will also be hosting a series of pop-up community events with more information about the Study and a chance to win a giveaway.
Visit SimcoeStreetRapidTransit.ca to sign up for a mailing list and stay up to date on key milestones and opportunities to get involved. More information, including dates and locations of the community events is also available on the project web page.
