Emergency child care will be available for eligible workers in Durham Region
Whitby, Ontario – Emergency child care for school-aged children will be available to eligible workers until in-person learning resumes.
As per the provincial announcement, elementary schools will move to remote learning following the April break. To ensure health care and front-line workers may continue providing critical services, emergency child care for school-aged children is available beginning Monday, April 19 to eligible workers who have no alternatives.
Registered Early Childhood Educators will support school-aged children with their online learning. Eligible child care centres are restricted to regular hours of operation.
The Region of Durham remains committed to the health and safety of children, parents and staff. Emergency child care centres follow mandated policies and procedures to help reduce the risk of transmission of COVID-19.
