Free compost in Clarington on April 27
Whitby, Ontario – Durham Region’s Works Department has teamed up with the Municipality of Clarington to offer free compost to residents at a special event in Clarington on April 27.
When: Saturday, April 27, from 8 a.m. to noon (rain or shine).
Where: Clarington Operations Depot, 178 Darlington-Clarke Townline Road, Bowmanville (south of Highway 2)
Why: In appreciation of a continued community-wide commitment to the Regional organics collection programs, residents are provided with free compost made using organics collected through curbside Green Bin and Leaf and Yard Waste programs. Residents should bring a shovel and containers to carry compost. Quantities are first-come, first served and limited to four blue boxes of compost per vehicle. Green bins, blue boxes and backyard composters will also be available for purchase (cash only), and broken bins can be exchanged for free.
Note: Residents are encouraged to bring a non-perishable food item, to be donated to a local food bank (please check that boxes and cans aren’t damaged, opened or expired).
