Growing the local music scene with Durham Music Industry Forum—Make your voice heard.
Whitby, Ontario – Invest Durham in collaboration with the Biltmore Theatre, St. Francis Centre for Community, Arts and Culture and The Second Wedge Brewery Co., is hosting an event series—a forum to generate and crowd-source great ideas for creating future programs, projects, and initiatives that are tailored to the unique needs of Durham’s music industry, to support and enable its growth, and create great local jobs through building the arts community.
Durham’s music industry has a strong foundation, supported by festivals and events such as The Ontario Philharmonic, Springtide Festival, Convergence and Oshawa Music Week. Local talent has seen global success, with artists like Shawn Mendes, Daniel Caesar and Lennon Stella and Juno award winning acts Dizzy, Meghan Patrick, and Protest the Hero emerging from the region. The music scene is further supported by post-secondary programs like Durham College’s Music Business Management program and initiatives such as the Oshawa Music Awards (The OMAs) and the School Alliance of Student Songwriters (SASS) program.
A thriving music economy fosters artistic growth, creates jobs, and attracts talent and tourism. This forum offers an opportunity for networking, discussions and feedback to guide the growth of the music industry in Durham.
Join Invest Durham and local music stakeholders for an engaging event featuring networking opportunities, refreshments, entertainment, motivational speaking, roundtable discussions and Q&A sessions. Keynote speaker Bob Egan, a veteran musician, six-time Juno Award winner and Canadian Hall of Fame inductee, will share his extensive experience, offering inspiration for new opportunities in the region.

- Wednesday, November 6, from 3 to 6 p.m. at the Biltmore Theatre, 39 King Street East, Oshawa.
