Health Department encourages families to attend the free Healthy Me, Healthy Us Family Health Information Day, Oct. 5
Whitby, Ontario – The Health Department is inviting families with children under six-years old to the third annual Healthy Me, Healthy Us Family Health Information Day on Oct. 5. This free event takes place at the Ajax Public Library Main Branch, 55 Harwood Ave. S., Ajax, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Free parking and snacks will be available for event participants.
The Healthy Me, Healthy Us event, organized by the Ajax Pickering Early Childhood Development Coalition, offers families the opportunity to speak with health and social service providers supporting healthy growth and development. A variety of local not-for-profit agencies will be hosting interactive educational displays covering topics including healthy eating, growth and development, immunization, child safety, and community supports and services.
“We encourage parents and caregivers to join us at the Healthy Me, Healthy Us event to learn more about important resources and supports that are available in their community,” said Amanda Fisher, public health nurse with the Health Department. “Our goal is to help families become informed, so they can reinforce healthy growth and development for their children.”
This event is part of the Be You. You Belong! initiative developed through a partnership with the Health Department and local community agencies. The aim of the Be You. You Belong! program is to promote a sense of belonging and inclusivity when families attend programs in their community. While the Be You. You Belong! initiative targets parents living in Ajax and Pickering, the Healthy Me, Healthy Us Family Health Information Day is open to all Durham Region residents.
