Health Department looking for members for the Durham Youth Health Group
The purpose of the Durham Youth Health Group is to give young people the opportunity to provide input on youth services and programs, while gaining skills in, and knowledge about various health topics. With support from Health Department public health nurses, participating youth from across Durham Region will be encouraged to identify their health priorities and help develop strategies to reach their peers.
“The focus of the group is to engage youth across Durham Region to work toward positive health outcomes for themselves, as well as their peers” said Emilie Ladouceur, a public health nurse with the Health Department.
“Benefits of joining the Durham Youth Health Group include, receiving community service hours, working on projects to develop health-related youth-targeted social media messages, gaining new experiences, connecting with other youth, and access to free training opportunities.”
Applications to join the Durham Youth Health Group will be accepted until May 31. Two information sessions will be held in June for individuals who submit applications and are interested in joining the group.
