Home-based businesses and farms: We want to hear from you! Complete the Business Count today
Whitby, Ontario – The sixth-annual Business Count is currently underway and The Regional Municipality of Durham is encouraging home-based businesses and farm owners and operators to participate by completing the Business Count online at www.durham.ca/businesscount, which will be open until August 25.
The Business Count is a Regional project that aims to collect employment statistics and promote economic development initiatives. The project gathers data about local businesses, including the type and nature of the business, the number of employees, plans for growth, floor space and location.
“Home-based businesses and farms play an important role in our community and it’s important that they are represented in the Business Count project,” said Stephanie Jones, Manager of Data Mapping and Graphics. “Our aim is to connect with all types of businesses, in order to support the region’s business community with more opportunities and resources.”
“Agriculture plays a significant role in Durham’s economy, and by participating in the Business Count, farms and home-based businesses can help us learn more about Durham’s agriculture industry and overall business community,” said Nancy Rutherford, Manager of Agriculture and Rural Affairs.
Data collected through the Business Count will be used for municipal planning and analysis purposes and to update regional and municipal business directories. Businesses are encouraged to utilize the online directory www.investdurham.ca to “look local first” when seeking out new suppliers.
