Joint statement from Chair John Henry and the eight Mayors of Durham Region on stay-at-home order
Whitby, Ontario – The following statement is being issued on behalf of John Henry, Regional Chair and Chief Executive Officer, and the eight Mayors of Durham Region:
“In the midst of the third wave, we are at a critical point of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Our province is in a state of emergency and the stay-at-home order has been extended.
As Durham Region’s elected leaders, the health and safety of our community is our top priority, which is why we are imploring Durham residents to follow all public health measures and restrictions that have been put in place.
When you disregard the restrictions, you are putting lives at risk, so it is crucial that we all continue to adhere to public health guidelines to protect our friends, families, and neighbours.
Stay within your own household and only leave for essential purposes, such as grocery shopping and exercising. Those who live alone may have exclusive contact with one other household only.
We must all continue to do our part every day to protect our community.
There is light at the end of the tunnel. We will get through this together by the will of our collective effort. Together we remain #DurhamStrong.”
