Labour Day holiday will affect blue box recycling collection schedule in Oshawa and Whitby
Whitby, Ontario – The Regional Municipality of Durham, Works Department would like to remind residents of changes to the scheduled curbside blue box collection in the City of Oshawa and Town of Whitby due to the upcoming Labour Day Holiday.
When: September 7 to 12.
Where: Residents in the City of Oshawa and the Town of Whitby will temporarily have their blue box collection moved to the following day.
This means that residents with collection scheduled for Monday, September 7 will temporarily have their collection moved to Tuesday, September 8. This shift will continue throughout the week with collection scheduled for Friday, September 11 moved to Saturday, September 12.
Garbage and green bin collection for Oshawa and Whitby residents is the responsibility of the individual municipalities, not the Region of Durham. These residents are asked to check their waste calendars or contact their local municipality regarding collection of these items.
Why: These changes are taking place in observance of Labour Day, on September 7.
