Lakeview Manor hosts community picnic and wellness day

Whitby, Ontario – In recognition of Seniors’ Month, members of the public are invited to attend a community picnic and wellness day on the grounds of Lakeview Manor in Beaverton. As part of the day, Lakeview Manor is also celebrating its 50th anniversary—the home first opened its doors to residents on September 14, 1967.
When: Saturday, June 3 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Where: Lakeview Manor, 133 Main Street West, Beaverton
Why: Activities will include a barbecue; children’s games; free giveaways; Active Living demonstrations; musical entertainment with local band, MT Pockets; and a classic car show. Wellness displays will also be on site, with representatives from the health-care community available to provide information and answer questions related to health-care matters.
Note: Seniors’ Month is recognized via an official proclamation made by Roger Anderson, Regional Chair and Chief Executive Officer, on behalf of Durham Regional Council.
The Ministry of Seniors Affairs promotes Seniors’ Month every June to recognize the valuable contributions made by seniors in communities across the province. Lakeview Manor, one of the Region’s four long-term care homes, is located on 13 acres in the Township of Brock. It offers 149 beds, including two areas for short-term stays and two Adult Day programs (one at Lakeview Manor, and the second at Lakeridge Health in Port Perry).
