Lane restrictions on Regional Road 8 in the Township of Uxbridge
Whitby, Ontario – The Regional Municipality of Durham is advising residents of lane restrictions on Regional Road 8 in the Township of Uxbridge.
When: Thursday, July 1. Unfavourable weather conditions may influence the work schedule.
Where: Regional Road 8 from east of Concession Road 5 to west of Concession Road 6 in the Township of Uxbridge.
Why: Lane restrictions will be in place to safely complete paving operations.
Note: Regional operations continue 24/7 delivering essential services to the residents of Durham. These services sometimes occur on statutory holidays. This July 1st is especially significant for all of us. We ask staff to take time to reflect on our relationships with First Nation, Métis and Inuit people—both past and present—and commit to work that will lead to reconciliation. In memory of the 182 First Nation, Métis and Inuit children who were uncovered in unmarked graves on the site of the former St. Eugene's Mission School in Cranbrook, BC, the 751 children on the site of the former Marieval Indian Residential School in Saskatchewan and the 215 children discovered on the Kamloops Indian Residential School grounds in Tk'emlúps te Secwépemc territory, we stand in solidarity with Indigenous communities all over Turtle Island. We invite staff to take time to reflect on our relationships—both past and present—and commit to work that will lead to reconciliation. The Region realizes that the construction work will be disruptive and will make every effort to complete the work as quickly and efficiently as possible. Drivers are asked to exercise caution for the safety of pedestrians, cyclists and work crews.
Please also be advised, in response to COVID-19 the Province of Ontario has identified the maintenance and repair of critical infrastructure including roads as an essential service.
