Lane restrictions on Thickson Road South and road closure on Burns Street East in Whitby

Whitby, Ontario – The Regional Municipality of Durham is advising residents of periodic lane restrictions on Thickson Road South and a road closure on Burns Street East in the Town of Whitby.
When: Lane restrictions on Thickson Road South are ongoing until September. Burns Street East will be closed from July 4 to August 19. Unfavourable weather conditions may influence the work schedule.
Where: Lane restrictions on Thickson Road South, from south of Burns Street East to north of Nichol Avenue, will be in place throughout the project. The road closure will be on Burns Street East, from Thickson Road South to the west leg of Murkar Crescent.
Why: For construction of a new northbound right turn lane and road resurfacing on Thickson Road. Construction work will also include a watermain relocation, storm sewer, and intersection and traffic light improvement.
Note: Businesses will remain open for the duration of construction. The Region recognizes there may be potential impacts during the work. The Region realizes that the construction work will be disruptive and will make every effort to complete the work as quickly and efficiently as possible. Drivers, cyclists and pedestrians are reminded to exercise additional caution. Access for local traffic and emergency vehicles will be maintained at all times.
