Learn about power of attorney at an upcoming virtual seminar
Whitby, Ontario – Are you an older adult in Durham Region? If something were to happen to you, such as an accident or illness that impacts your decision-making ability, having a trusted person appointed can be very important.
At an upcoming webinar, learn about the importance of having a power of attorney—a legal document that gives someone you trust, the right to make financial or health care decisions for you.
When: Monday, October 4 from 1 to 3 p.m.

Who: Detective Constable Martin Franssen is a senior investigator with the Durham Regional Police Service’s (DRPS) Financial Crimes Unit. His work includes elder law and the protection of vulnerable persons. He also deals with complex corporate fraud investigations, including estate litigation and mortgage fraud.
Detective Constable Franssen has been recognized nationally for his dedication to the training and education of police officers and community members. He has conducted hundreds of seminars to increase awareness and prevent victimization in fraud, power of attorney and last will and testament.
Note: This event series is part of the Seniors’ Virtual Learning Series, presented by Durham Region in partnership with various community partners.
