Learn more about Regional government with Durham Region 101
Whitby, Ontario – Durham Region residents are encouraged to learn more about the many programs and services provided by the Region, as highlighted in the new “Durham Region 101” video. The video is currently available on the Region’s website, at durham.ca/DurhamRegion101.
Durham Region 101 outlines programs and services provided by the Region, the history of the Regional organization, how council is formed, and various other responsibilities, through the eyes of a Durham Region resident. The five-minute video was originally developed to supplement the Grade 5 Social Studies and Grade 10 Civics curriculums. Related learning materials are also available online.
“The purpose of Durham Region 101 is to highlight how Regional services are delivered by our employees, through taxpayer dollars, and impact the everyday lives of our residents,” said Garry Cubitt, Chief Administrative Officer. “The video takes you on a journey to showcase the various Regional services that a resident could expect to come across in their day-to-day life, while telling the story of Durham Region’s history.”
