March 25 Regional Council meeting to be held electronically

Whitby, Ontario – Durham Regional Council will host a special meeting, on March 25, to permit electronic participation in both open and closed meetings. This meeting is in response to provincial legislation, from March 19, that allows members of councils, local boards and committees to participate electronically in open and closed meetings and be counted for the purposes of quorum.

When: The special meeting will be held on March 25 at 9 a.m., with the regularly scheduled council meeting to follow at 9:30 a.m.

Where: Residents can stream council online at calendar.durham.ca/meetings.

Why: Previous to this legislation, all members of council (or their alternates) had to appear in person to be considered in attendance and be able to vote.
