Municipal Class Environmental Assessment Study for Bloor Street available for public review

Whitby, Ontario – The Regional Municipality of Durham is inviting the public to review and comment on the Municipal Class Environmental Assessment Study for the realignment and widening of Bloor Street (Regional Road 22) in the City of Oshawa.

When: December 3 to 17

Where: Bloor Street (Regional Road 22) from east of Harmony Road (Regional Road 33) to Grandview Street, in the City of Oshawa.

Why: The realignment and widening of Bloor Street was identified in the Durham Transportation Master Plan 2017 as the preferred solution to address operational deficiencies, road safety and increasing traffic volumes. A Notice of Study Commencement was published on February 20, 2020. Alternative design concepts have been developed and evaluated for the Bloor Street realignment including widening to four lanes with a Canadian Pacific Railway grade separation, a new bridge crossing over Farewell Creek, and modifications at the Bloor Street and Grandview Street intersection.

Note: A Public Information Package including details of the study is now available. The purpose of the Public Information Package is to present the study process, the evaluation of alternative design concepts, the preliminary recommended design and the next steps in the Study.
