New designated smoking area at Durham Region Headquarters

Whitby, Ontario – The Regional Municipality of Durham, Works Department, would like to advise the public that smoking and the use of electronic cigarettes (e-cigarettes) on Regional Headquarters property is now restricted to a designated smoking area.

When: Effective Tuesday, July 3.

Where: The new dedicated smoking area at the Region of Durham Headquarters (605 Rossland Road East, Whitby), is located on the south side of the building, on the eastern edge of the parking lot.

Why: The Region of Durham is committed to maintaining a safe and healthy workplace for all employees and visitors at all Regional facilities.

The Smoke-Free Ontario Act (SFOA), 2017, prohibits smoking in all public places, municipal buildings and workplaces within the Region. Note: Smoking and the use of e-cigarettes in any other area on the Regional Headquarters property, other than this designated smoking area, is prohibited.
